Error Messages

Edit

General #

When SAMMI crashes, you will receive a pop up with the error details.

There are 2 different types of crashes in SAMMI, button errors and non button errors.

All your error messages are automatically saved in your SAMMI folder, in chronological order, in the error_log.txt file.

SAMMI will automatically launch again after a crash. You can disable this option in Settings.

Edit

Button Command Crashes #

The error will be called Button Command Error and these crashes are in 99% of cases user errors.

Your buttons may have incorrect syntax or you just told SAMMI to do something it really didn’t like, such as trying to execute a math on a string or adding a string and number together.

Debugging these crashes is rather easy, since the error message tells you exactly which deck, button ID, command and line the crash occured in.

Edit

Non Button Crashes #

These crashes may and may not be a user error, and are more complex to debug. The error can be anything from Unknown Error, Twitch Pubsub Error to HTTP Error.

Generally you will not be able to tell why the crash occured, however you will be asked whether you want to send the error log directly to SAMMI Developers.

If you decide to send us the error log, you will be prompted to add a comment explaining what you were doing prior to crash. It’s extremely important to include as many details as possible, so our SAMMI Developers can recreate the crash on their side and fix it.

With a proper comment, it may take us less than 10 minutes to fix a bug. Without one, we can spend a week trying to recreate a crash with no luck.

An example of the error log that was sent to us with a detailed comment explaining what led to the crash:
